Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Remember the first time you build something with Lego and how you beamed with excitement?! You paraded it around and couldn't wait to show everyone! With my project funded, my students can have the same pleasure and joy.
I work with 23 angelic kindergarten students who reside in a social-economically challenged area.
We work hard to build on phonemic awareness and number sense. It would be nice to have something as an incentive that will be both fun and educational for students to use in between their content studies.
My Project
Legos have been found to provide multiple developmental benefits for young children. They are engaging, work off student strengths, challenges weaknesses, define fine motor skills, foster social interactions, and encourage completion in the satisfaction of a product at the end. A Lego center will be a complete asset to my kindergarten students who will grow and develop in ALL of those areas. My students need a nice Lego table and 2 Lego Jumbo Building Bricks School Sets to build fine motor skills.
My students have to deal with so much of the real life adult drama outside of school.
School is their future and their escape. The Legos and the table will provide my students with a nice retreat corner where they can still learn, interact, socialize, and develop.
