For many of my 5 and 6 year old students this class is their first school experience. They begin their learning journey with little more than cautious curiosity and bloom into readers, writers, and problem solvers by year's end. It's truly an amazing transformation!
We are a "Leader in Me" school and use the 7 Habits of Happy Kids program to achieve our school mission statement "Creating a Community of Learners and Leaders".
We are a small rural school in a caring, close community. Everyone visiting our school notices the warm, supportive atmosphere created by our staff and community.
My Project
The world of technology is constantly growing and changing. Our children need to be able to grow and change with the times. They need to explore and learn in the technology world to solve the problems of the future and to create and engineer new products.
The Ozobot Bit is a simple robot that will not only intrigue and amaze young learners, but will introduce them to the STEM science of coding and programming, and help them to prepare for the future.
It utilizes simple color coding and lights to follow programs and perform tasks. Our children will be able to learn about robots, and the basics of coding and programming using simple tools. Black markers and the Sticker Codes will get us started, and then we will be able to advance to using color markers and known codes to solve more real world STEM challenges.
This is truly an exciting adventure for us and an opportunity that I am especially anxious to introduce. It will open a whole new world to some very eager minds. We grow butterflies from caterpillars and hatch baby chicks from eggs in my classroom. Nothing can compare to the learning that comes from hands-on real life experiences for these young minds. Thank you in advance for your help and support.
