"What are we making today?" is often exclaimed as my lively kindergarten students burst into our classroom each morning. We are a Title I school with a growing English Language Learner population. Our classroom is lucky enough to have students from Haiti, Cuba, Uzbek, and Russia. Despite the economic challenges my students face at home, they bring an abundance of joy and energy through our door daily.
The JOY of learning RADIATES from these young scholars!
As their teacher, I am tasked with providing them a nurturing, child-centered oasis at school to bring them happiness, meaningful play-based learning opportunities.
Despite the challenge of learning English and the aftermath of a devastating storm, my students are always eager to explore, invent and prove that they are natural-born problem solvers. They thirst for experiences that make them even more engaged. They are loving of each other and are always helping each other strive for excellence. I am blessed with the opportunity to provide this class with creative, active, engaging and quality learning experiences that will help each of them blossom into tomorrow's leaders.
My Project
My young students are beginning to show interest in coding. The Botley the Robot bundle will give my students the opportunity to engage in coding without being infront of the computer or ipad screen. These young engineers just need the 'tools' to do the job of learning about coding.
These young learners are super active and I can only imagine the lively conversations and collaboration as they 'play' with Botley.
Giving my students the opportunity to code with developmentally appropriate materials will spark years of coding interest in each of my students. I look forward to seeing how they relate what they learn through Botley to more advanced coding in the future.
