My kindergarten students are extremely eager to learn. Each of my students comes from a different walk of life, but they all come into my classroom and we truly become a family.
Many of my students come from low-income families or from families whose native language is not English.
Despite having hurdles in their lives, even at the age of 5 and 6, they bring their all to school and strive to reach their goals. It is amazing to watch their little minds work and grow throughout the year.
My Project
Many of my students this year have family members who work with animals, whether it be at a turkey farm, processing plant, horses, or chickens in their back yard.
I want to give my students the opportunity to learn about animal care through play, a farm unit, and books.
We always do a unit about farms in the spring and having figurines and a farm scene will allow for the students to explore what they are learning through play. They will be able to use new vocabulary learned throughout the unit and talk about what it takes to care for animals on a farm.
