My Students

Working in a Title I school gives me a chance to inspire and encourage students to love learning. More then 90% of the students in my school district come from poverty situations, and receive 100% free breakfast/lunch. When I see the look of excitement on my students faces when they are shown the endless possibilities of what they can learn, it makes me want to provide them with exposure to all types of learning! They may not have high expectations when they first come to school, but throughout the year they are shown the endless possibilities for their future!!

My Project

I am requesting an useful tool for my students, by providing them with a rug that encourages good behavior on a daily basis! Negative classroom behavior can be minimized by allowing students to take the responsibility of being a good friend and classmate into their own hands. As vocabulary is very important in 2nd grade, the rug provides positive words of encouragement in text, and then becomes a fantastic reminder for students!

The words necessary to build their vocabulary and remind them what is important in being a good friend and classmate will be right under their feet!

Students will also be using this rug as a place to read in comfort as an additional seating area during independent reading. A fantastic multi-purpose rug for our classroom!
