Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is designed to meet the learning needs for students on the autism spectrum. My students fall all over the autism spectrum. My students are in 3rd, 4th, & 5th grade.
My students are amazing!
I love how they view the world. They are completely unique and beautiful. I learn from them every day. My team and I work hard to create a meaningful and engaging educational experience for my students. Together we are hoping to start a coffee delivery service within our school run by our students.
My Project
My students on the autism spectrum often need instruction on communication and social skills. In creating a coffee delivery service every Friday called Kidsbucks!
Kidsbucks will provide a situation for my students to actively engage with their school community.
They will also get to practice functional skills within a teacher supported setting. We will be charging money for the coffee. This will help them learn economic practices. The students will apply for various jobs at our coffee shop. A Keurig will help them safely and successfully make the coffee with a higher level of independence than other coffee pots.
My students will apply for various jobs at our coffee shop. They will all have a role in the coffee shop. The jobs will include putting the K-cup into the Keurig, taking orders, special deliveries, and handling the money. My hope is to raise money for our classroom through the coffee shop. The students can vote on how we spend our classroom money at the end of the year.
