My Students

Remember middle school? When you first start developing real friendships? All the stress that you just didn't understand? Imagine that on top of having autism.

I teach a social skills class for middle school students who have autism spectrum disorders.

Other than the one period they are with me, these students are in regular education classes and facing all the same challenges as their 6th - 8th grade peers.

My Project

Using these books, I will devise part of an age appropriate and interactive social skills program that will help equip students with skills that they are going to face daily. Students with autism often have a difficult time understanding their own emotions and the world around them. Mix such social deficits with just being in middle school and you can just imagine the potential problems that could arise.

Your donation will help students make the best of middle school and learn to appropriately deal with things they will face on a daily basis.
