Help me give my students tools they need to develop language and social skills so that they can make friends, be successful in school and one day have jobs that let them contribute to projects like these!
Preschool students with communication delays need your help! My students are preschoolers age 3-6 who are experiencing school for the first time. They are students with communication needs who are being seen for speech-therapy on an Individualized Education Program. Some students are working on speech sounds and making their speech more clear, others are working on building vocabulary and putting words together to make longer sentences. Some students are not yet verbal and are learning to use pictures, sign language or iPads with voice output to communicate their wants and needs.
Helping a young child learn to communicate is essential for their daily activities, for their ability to socialize with peers and for their ability to participate in activities that will later prepare them for school and for life!
Thank you for your consideration in contributing to this project.
My Project
Preschool students learn through play. My students are learning to communicate using play based, literacy based and pre-academic activities. If you've ever had a preschooler, you know that materials wear out fast. The selections in this order will help round out existing materials and replace some with updated and more interesting "stuff." Preschoolers love exploring new "stuff!"
Games help promote social skills, turn taking, cooperation, following rules and using simple language.
Preacademic tasks with vocabulary will help students who are needing to get ready for kindergarten and will need to improve their attention to task, willingness to complete work tasks, understanding of vocabulary and vocabulary relationships.
Many students like playing in sensory bins. I have several but am always looking to make new ones. I've requested a few "fillers" for some new bins.
