My students are three to five years old who are eager to learn and ready to experience new concepts. Every student in my class has developmental delays in multiple areas. For many students, this is their first school experience.
We are learning and growing together everyday!
My students live in an area of Columbus that has many low-income families, Sixty-nine percent of the students are minority students and ninety-six percent receive free lunches. My students have great families who are interested in helping their children learn and do well in school.
My students require a variety of methods to learn basic developmental skills. They learn by touch, movement, song and repetition. The materials and manipulatives we are using are ten years old and breaking down. I would like to offer my students new and colorful materials to engage them in learning skills for kindergarten readiness.
New materials will encourage students to learn necessary skills and encourage a life long love of learning.
Having a variety of new materials such as a library of puzzles, soft sensory balls, button sorter and category sorter will encourage my students to develop skills in multiple areas.
