This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach in an urban, diverse middle school, and I can attest that my students are readers.
Ever since I've become the librarian at our middle school, they have come and begged me for more books every week, especially manga comics. I have kids asking for titles that I've never even heard of, and it's been a journey for me to try to find books for them that they're desperate to read. I know how excited they are to read them, and honestly the more we get, the happier they are. Many of them do not have access to as many books as they want to read, and I feel like it's my duty to provide them as many as I can.
I believe that any kind of reading benefits my students, and this project can help make that happen for them.
