My Students
We are a rural Title I school with over 100 students per grade level. My classroom has a diverse mix of kids from all kinds of backgrounds.
I have some amazing incoming students who are transitioning from a primary setting to the intermediate school.
I want to offer a classroom that is comfortable and inviting. These kids will spend more waking hours in this room than at their own homes during the week. They will be working hard, and I want them to have the best possible chance for success.
My Project
In order to do their best while studying at school, students need a comfortable environment to learn and grow. Third grade is the year that students begin to do a LOT of testing and the curriculum goes much deeper. There is more work and less play, than the primary grades, sadly.
Flexible seating allows students to feel welcome and at home with their classmates.
It also allows students to sit in a different spot each day and work collaboratively with all kinds of kids.
I purchased some comfortable seating on my own last year, but it wasn't built for classroom use and much of it needs replaced. I'm asking for two colorful, sturdy couches for my classroom to add to some of my other furniture that survived heavy use. My students will love them!
