Do you remember that sense of wonderment that you had as a kid? How does this work, how does that work. My students are ever so curious about how things work and those processes that happen. Help me help them!
This is a class of high performing fifth graders that are full of curiosities.
They have not had a high level of science taught to them in the past, but want to take it all in. I have never seen a class so full of life and wondering. This set would help them with the processes and application of science along with learning about simple machines and robotics. This would be a remarkable addition to this year's learning for them!
My Project
Students will have to draw plans, make predictions, hypotheses, material lists, and step-by-step directions. Then, they will have to build what they have planned to test their hypothesis. Finally, a conclusion will be drawn upon their experiment. What a fantastic way for students to get a broad understanding of the application of the scientific process (an area we have always been weak in) along with gaining a beginning knowledge of robotics.
I see so many students leave our school for middle school with no ambition to be a scientist, engineer or even astronaut that I would love to light those passions within these students' minds on fire with science!
Wouldn't it be great if just one third of these students were inspired by this project to continue studying the sciences and become a great engineer? I love the life I seen in their eyes and this would brighten that life even more. Thank you for any help you can provide!
