Help me give my students cookbooks to continue their ability of learning how to cook at home!

My Students

My students are a mix of lower income and middle class students. My school is a Title 1 school, with about 40% free/reduced lunch students. In my four classes of Foods and Nutrition, the students are learning about proper nutrition and how to prepare meals for their families.

During the Covid-19 school closures, my students were sent home with instructions to cook at least six times, most had the same questions: How do we find recipes?

With this grant, I would like to purchase cookbooks for the students to keep, which will further promote their cooking abilities.

Most of my students are the primary source for the creation of food in their homes, so this would be a tremendous gift for them. Please consider me and my students for your generous sponsorship of obtaining cookbooks for the students.

My Project

As a middle school teacher of Family & Consumer Sciences, Foods & Nutrition and 6th-Grader Home Economics class, my job is to create a positive working environment for 6th, 7th, and 8th-graders to learn how to cook. Working in teams, the students follow a recipe and create a dish or meal for their teams or the class. With this project, and the Covid019 hiatus, the students are encouraged to continue cooking at home. The cookbooks would be distributed to those who do not have access to the internet, family recipes, or cookbooks at home.

The students will be able to use the books to continue cooking and prompt them to try new recipes.

My students were very sad that we had to take a break for Covid-19, but were excited to take home the responsibility of cooking.
