Though our class is small, we have mighty dreams. The students in our classroom are excited learners, who are always trying to do their very best. They come to our classroom from all over the area and some even ride buses from the neighboring county. Everyone in our class knows that in our small part of the world, hard work and always trying their best is important to learning the most we can today in order to be ready for the future of tomorrow!
My Project
Like all classrooms I have students who have a lot of "wiggles." I would like to provide flexible seating and seating options for desks so my kids can get those wiggles out, while at the same time increasing focus. In fact, research has shown flexible seating has the ability to enhance student engagement. For my students who have behavioral issues and/or ADD/ADHD, using bouncy bands and exercise balls as seats, will allow them to move as needed and improve their focus.
These active seating tools will benefit not only those using them but also their peers.
It will allow those who need the ability to actively move, a way that is less disruptive to their classmates' learning and focus.
