Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

We have something we are very excited about happening in our school, CS 214 in the South Bronx. In June we are taking 24 fifth-graders to Montreal, Canada for two nights. Why Canada? Fifth-graders study Canada, a direct educational connection! We have fundraised all year - and we have made approximately $5000. Parents are providing some of the payment as well to make this dream a reality. Now we are hoping to get some help for some of the extras while in Montreal. I thought it would be nice to be able to take the students to an IMAX production at the science center one evening. I doubt any of them have ever seen a 3D movie! Of course, a popcorn and drink would be nice for the kids - but that is not necessary! It would be an extra! We want this to be a trip full of activities and firsts for our students. They totally deserve it. On a personal side note, last year I took two of my students to Vancouver, Canada. It was totally amazing to see their faces light up when they saw something we had previously read about...it's exciting and refreshing for both students and teachers. I wonder if anyone will pick up the french language??? Please help make the trip unforgettable!!! Thanks so much.
