My Students

I am blessed to teach in Lumberton, North Carolina. We are a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free breakfast, lunch, and snacks. This fact gives you a really good idea of their daily environment.

With Scholastic Magazines to read they can visit the world from the comfort of our classroom.

Many of them come to my class far behind their grade level, so they need as much help as we can give them. Each year it is my job to prepare each one of them for the fourth grade which can be quite challenging. We need Scholastic Magazines to make our lessons more fun and engaging so children want to read more.

I want to make sure I enable them to be successful throughout their educational career, and a solid foundation is the only way that is possible.

I try to encourage students to always do their best, to be their best, and tell them they can accomplish anything their heart desires if they try their best. Our combined support for them will enable them to reach the goals they set for themselves. Reading is a gift everyone deserves to have.

My Project

Scholastic Magazines give each individual student their own magazine about things that are going on in the world around them. Having something of their own, that they do not have to share with anyone, is a big deal to our children. The ownership of the magazine somehow empowers their desire to read and learn because many of our kids do not have things that belong only to them.

Scholastic Magazines brings real-world environments and current events to children in a kid-friendly way that makes them love reading!

Because it is designed for their grade level it is easier for them to understand, and sparks their curiosity to other topics as well. Scholastic Magazines make learning enjoyable in a way that no other magazine can for children.

When children are excited to read they retain more of what they are reading and can recall it. These magazines open up a whole new world to the children that they are excited to learn about. Each month when their new magazines come the children are eager to see what their magazine contains and dive right into reading them.
