Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you recall when you were first hooked on the magic of reading? My students absolutely love getting "lost" in the world of their books and therefore, reading is a cherished time in our day. Although they all read at different levels, they have one thing in common. They love to read!
Over half of \the student population of my school receives free and reduced lunch.
A vast array of cultures is represented and as a result, approximately half of my 5th grade students are English language learners. These amazing children have unlimited enthusiasm and strive to give their best each and every day. They are particularly dedicated toward improving their reading ability.
My Project
Kids Discover is an amazing website with an enormous selection of eye-appealing, leveled nonfiction articles. They have a wide variety of topics including ones that connect directly to the units I teach. My students love to learn through technology and reading so what better way to reach and teach them than through this amazing website?
I love including a technology center into our daily rotations.
My students learn better when they have an opportunity to explore topics in depth. The reading articles in Kids Discover provide a host of opportunities for me to infuse essential reading strategies into the curriculum in a way that is both engaging and effective. The visuals are captivating, but particularly important for my English Language Learners. With Kids Discover, I'm confident my student's reading abilities will soar!
