Kids Connect Club is a school civic engagement group that works to provide community service opportunities in our community while learning about the history of our town and what community members do to help our town. Students experience continued interaction with other schools in our town.
Some examples of projects we have completed include a sock giveaway, learning from a museum curator about the circus that used to be in our town, listening to various community leaders speaking to us about their careers, and raising over $400 for the new dog park in our town.
We are currently trying to fund money for a mural at our school, snacks for after school, and various other community service giveaways to fill needs in our community.
My Project
The markers will be used to illustrate specific tasks designated to different members of the team. The tape will be used to create boxes for giving supplies. The other materials will be used to promote good citizenship for a variety of students.
We have weekly meetings in which we promote good social skills, community service, and civic engagement with our community.
We distribute needed supplies to students and families, all within a loving and inclusive school environment. The students learn to communicate with adults through presentations, emails, and letters. Students put on a community fair for the public at the end of the school year.
