My Students
My students come from all different backgrounds. My school is a Title I school, therefore my students come from low socioeconomically income homes. Most of them, if not all, receive free lunch. I provide most of the school supplies they need and everything else i may need in the classroom to make their learning experience successful.
My goal this year is to have enough books to help them understand everything that is going on in the world right now.
We are facing tough times, and as young as my students are, I bet there's confusion in their little minds. I would like to gather a variety of books that will be utilized in the classroom for lessons, independent reading time, etc. to explain and deepen their understanding about the times we are living right now.
My Project
These books will be used to create meaningful lessons about the difficult and different times we are facing. Students may or may not quite understand why they are staying home, why they can't see their friends, their teachers, their family members. Some of the books I will use during the first weeks of distance learning, I will read the book to my students and together we will discuss it and how it relates to what we are living through right now. Other books will be in my classroom library, waiting for my students to be able to come back to school and be utilized during independent reading time.
