Kidney Shaped Table for Guided Reading Groups!

My students need a sturdy, reliable kidney shaped table to read and write on during our reading groups. Our current table tops are peeling up and pinching the children as they read and write.

My Students

My students are hard working students who are striving to achieve grade level reading levels. I teach students that are reading below grade level in NY state.

My students are in Kindergarten through 5th grade and many of them are more than one grade level behind.

My students come from homes that either do not support them academically or do not have the means to support them academically. Over 95% of our students come from high poverty situations. Recently, we have also seen a high number of students from hurricane stricken areas.

My Project

My students have the opportunity to receive intense, small group instruction during their Reading Intervention time.

This table will provide a clean and reliable work area for my students as they become more proficient readers and writers.

Our current table tops are peeling up and pinching the children as they read and write in our groups. This is making it difficult to concentrate and get through our lessons with focus. The unsteady surface also makes it difficult to write legibly. The new tables will give the students an opportunity to progress in their reading and writing success. This will make my students feel happier and ready to learn!
