Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
There is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs. My diverse group of special education students receive counseling and social skill services throughout the school day. We are focusing on working through tough issues in order to make bad behavior choices, chronic absenteeism, bullying and disruptions non existent in our lives and our academic careers.
One great way to decrease stress and feel good about yourself is through exercise!
I have thought of a way, with these materials, to increase the physical activity of my students and positive behaviors while fighting childhood obesity!
My Project
My students receive daily points for good behavior throughout the school day. With these points at the end of the week they are able to have extra time outdoors and in the gym. The school budget does not allocate money for sports equipment to each class so I decided to ask donors choose for some help.
These materials will provide my students with equipment to play with in order to stay physically fit and get some fresh air!
Games, balls and jump ropes will allow them to have fun without even realizing that they are exercising at the same time! Our school has a basketball court outside and with the balls we will finally be able to play there! Corn Hole is a great game to practice gross motor and social skills while also practicing math skills to keep score!
