Kid Favorite; On the Floor Seating

Help me give my students the flexible seating option of being able to sit or stretch out on the floor area rugs and use lap desks that will make them more comfortable and engaged while they are learning!

My Students

I teach a wonderful group of students in a school that is nestled in a rural area in which my students offer many different qualities from all walks of life. Many of the children have been in classes together since the beginning of their education, creating many interesting, sibling-like relationships. They both support and challenge each other every day.

My students share and grow from each other’s experiences and have a well-rounded understanding and compassion for others.

Even though they are diverse in many ways, they come together with their passion for learning.

Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly. We incorporate a variety of learning strategies and learning options, but my goal is to also offer alternative seating to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!

My Project

I want to provide my students with comfortable floor seating so they have an option to choose what works best for them as an individual. Having the area rugs and lap desks in my classroom will allow my students to work and study in their most comfortable learning spot. Not only will flexible seating encourage learning independence, but it will also allow students to take ownership of their learning style and decisions.

I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year and would love the opportunity to be able to able to offer the simple, kid favorite seating style of being able to sit on the floor.
