Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kids are a delight and they are eager to learn! My school is a Title I school in a large county in Florida. Our school is a low-income inner-city school. My students are eager to learn and succeed, but, unfortunately, they face many challenges. One recent challenge that faces them is the impact of several hurricanes, including Hurricane Irma, that has impacted their lives this fall.
Our school, families, and the community have been negatively impacted by the effects of these hurricanes in many ways.
Issues range from extended power outages to flooding, damage, and loss of property. Our school is also considered a transient, Hispanic school where most of the families come from a low socioeconomic level. Many of our students come from Caribbean or Latin America countries such as Cuba, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Honduras, just to name a few. The impact of said hurricanes has even caused some to relocate to our neighborhood and school community. As a result, most of the students are learning the English language and or have never received schooling. I need to expose them to an interactive curriculum.

It would be exciting if we could update our classroom technology.
These kids are born with the capabilities of a 21st-century student in a 21st-century school!
It is crucial in a modern school but it is expensive. We need a keyboard, earbud, monitor[s] in order to replace old malfunctioning technology in our classroom. The students use these on a daily basis as they use technology for science experiments, research projects, I-Ready Intervention online Program, as well as, engaging in education.
The new material will enhance learning and help my kiddos become successful by providing the essential learning 21st-century materials.
