Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are highly innovative students with a desire to learn and explore. Our school is a Title I school (52% of students are on free/reduced lunch) with students that come from a wide variety of backgrounds.
My school ensures that all students’ needs are met each and every day.
In order to do this, we provide various accommodations and differentiation in both reading and math. Students may need different items or different levels of texts in which to engage.
My Project
These books will help my students build their reading skills. More importantly, they will help my students further develop their love of reading.
A child's love of reading is priceless.
Many of these texts are graphic novels. These are so important in the classroom to motivate students who "hate reading" to try out a new book. This can be the gateway to a new passion.
Other texts were selected because of their connection to the Sunshine State Young Reader Awards series. My students already tried out some of these series and LOVED THEM! They would be so excited to see what happens next.
