My Students

Our school is a founding Title I school in a low-socioeconomic community where 92% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch. The high school graduation rate is 52%, with a mere 6% of the entire community graduating from college. Currently, there are no high performing school options in Lynwood.

Our school is highly focused on literacy and rigorous instruction in order for our students to excel on their path to college.

Although our students may face challenges in their homes, I value the importance of creating a safe, warm, respectful space that is academically challenging, but one that our curious, kind, and resilient students can call their second home.

As it is our founding year, this is the perfect opportunity for you to contribute to the FOUNDATION that will ensure future academic success in our kindergarten scholars!

My Project

Have you ever read a book so juicy that you couldn't go to sleep without finishing it? I sure have, and that's the same excitement that I hope to instill in our bright kindergarten scholars! Leveled books will help our students in guided and independent reading groups, while also being able to differentiate to each child's specific needs.

I'm requesting Level A-D Book Bins K-Gr.1.

These leveled books will help our students choose books based on their own interests and become avid readers, which is linked to higher academic success.

The most successful way to improve the reading achievement of low-income children is to increase their access to print. Some other resources to keep our scholars highly engaged include dry erase clipboards and reusable pockets so scholars can practice their letter formations or number formations in a fun (and eco-friendly) manner. Allowing students to choose a spot in the classroom where they can complete their work gives them a voice in our classroom while simultaneously increasing intrinsic motivation and promoting independent thinkers. Altogether, these materials will help engage and spark a passion in our students to love learning across all subjects and develop ownership of their education!

By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve student focus, but you will help them become LIFELONG learners. Our students will be grateful to know that there are kind people like you who care about their success in becoming our future leaders!

Thank you in advance!
