Our rural elementary school serves over 700 students with a diverse population! I teach PreK - 5th grade learners in our library. The library is a special place for reading. However, more than reading can occur in the library!
Our students love hands-on activities that promote engagement, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
We aim to incorporate STEM activities into our reading to promote a love for learning. Our students are amazing! Each and every student comes from a different background, yet they each have various strengths they bring to our library. Their strengths leave them excited to come to school to learn new things, work together, and think outside the box.
My Project
The library can be more than just literacy! With KEVA planks, students will be inspired to become their own inventors from stories read to them. Just imagine students creating a roman aqueduct after reading about Ancient Rome, creating a pyramid after studying Ancient Egypt, or recreating the problem and solution of a story with KEVA planks.
By allowing students to be hands-on in the library, they will develop a love for reading, collaboration, and problem-solving skills all at once.
Our students are bright! They deserve the opportunity to take a story into a hands-on environment. Student learning and engagement can be positively impacted by the use of KEVA planks in our library!
