My students need these novels to start our new Teachers' College Reading Program off right! We need multiples of two to work in partnerships and groups to help us tackle the world of Realistic Fiction!
My students walk into the classroom every day full of life and eager to learn. They are full of enthusiasm and love to experience new concepts using different modalities. Many of them are first generation English language learners, becoming both the learner and the teacher to their parents, when they show them what is going on in our classroom. We like to open our classroom and school to our parents as often as possible to share students’ learning in all academic areas, as well as create a strong home-school-community connection.
My Project
My students love to read, and are constantly looking for new genres and chapter books to dive into. For many of my students, the classroom library is their only opportunity to read examples of great literature to let them expand their ideas of what is out there in the world.
Our new Reading Program this year relies completely on literature and chapter books and requires them to be reading quite a few books at a time.
The books I have chosen like Frindle and The Lemonade War are examples of perfect 4th grade chapter books my students should be exposed to, to learn about the art of character development. This library, complete with bookshelves, will be a great start to our school year as we dive into our first Unit of Study! Thank you!
