Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a diverse population of students, ranging from honors to students receiving special education services, and English Language Learners who come from many different cultural backgrounds and educational needs. We are a Title I funded school, which means that students come from many different social and economic circumstances. I teach mathematics to three different seventh-grade classes.

My students are challenged to adjust to different settings, as the pandemic has affected their normal education.

Our city was a very hard hit area from the start and still remains to be a very hard place for the students to be. To fully adjust, we must not only focus on math skills but social-emotional skills as well.

My students strive to live like leaders and they are motivated to succeed. They take pride in their education and work hard to thrive in my math class. We talk like scholars, write like experts, think like innovators, and live like leaders.

My Project

Help me give my students the ability to have the items we need to continue to successfully learn. After two difficult years due to the pandemic, I feel my students need socio-emotional support more than ever. My students asked for keyboards since the ones that came with the iPad the school gave them, either will not charge, or some of the keys are not working. Unfortunately, the school is unable to fix that issue, so I want to be able to provide my students with a working keyboard to make using their iPad easier when they are doing their classwork. These keyboards will truly help the health and wellness of my students and help them to be able to learn without the stress and anxiety of not having the tools they need to succeed.
