I love my students because of their passion for reading! Students at my school are always seen with a novel and are required to read several books throughout the year. My students love reading about scientific topics such as space, nature, and animals.
My students are incredibly curious and have developed a passion for learning.
During my ELA lessons, they always want to know more about the topics we are reading about. They often do their own research!
My students also love learning about historical figures, especially leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. Our student population is mostly African American, so finding novels that have diverse characters is a must! Our school is very focused on our students going to and through college. I love that my students have a drive to learn, because this will help them be passionate about their careers in the future!
My students always surprise me with their musical talent. I often find my students singing and dancing along to music when they are given free time.
Unfortunately, our school does not have a music program.
Because of this, I run a choir and dance club during lunch and after school.
A student plays keyboard for choir club, which means I must transport my personal keyboard to the school on choir club days. It would be so wonderful to have a keyboard that can stay at the school at all times so that students can play whenever they want to.
