Our school is located in a middle-class neighborhood in California, and most of my students live within the school boundaries.
The school is distinguished from other schools by its stimulating and nurturing environment, which recognizes and celebrates individual differences.
Our school community exhibits the vision, courage, and passion necessary to enrich the lives of our children. My students range from struggling to advanced, with most at grade level. The love of learning is evident in my students' enthusiasm when they are able to read. This is what every teacher wants to see, students that are excited about reading.
My Project
Education is a top priority with this field trip. This hands-on experience will align with curriculum standards on watersheds, urban runoff, impact on marine life, solutions to ocean pollution, and more to educate students on how important it is to keep their environment clean. The heart of the Key to the Sea program for the students is a field trip to a local aquarium and beach. The field trip is designed to encourage students to use their senses and become aware of the environment around them. It will include guided beach explorations in which students dig for animals in the sand, examine seaweed and search for signs of life. It will also include an activity called Bird Detectives. Using binoculars, students identify shore birds and their adaptations. During Pollution and Solutions, students learn about pollution and how they can help keep our environment clean.
At the Heal the Bay Science Center, students will be engaged, informed, and inspired about conservation.
Students will learn how to help keep their Southern California coastal waters safe, healthy and clean. I want to thank you for your generosity concerning the education and future of our youth.
