My students need these locks and keys, which although may sound funny, is an amazing opportunity for them to enhance both their math and OT skills at the same time!

My Students
My students are amazing individuals with various disabilities including down syndrome, specific learning disorder, ADHD, and more. These students are the hardest working group of children as they challenge themselves each and every day to accomplish things that they at first see as impossible. My students are in a separate setting where their individual needs are being met both academically, socially, and emotionally. Before coming into this small group setting students often have been overcome with defeat, however, they soon unlock potential in themselves that they didn't even realize at first was possible.
My Project
Students will be able to use these locks in individualized centers with various math equations/number sense problems. Students will not only be working on math but their OT skills at well. My students will need to solve various math problems in order to "unlock" the correct lock. These will range from number sense to multiplication and division. This is an exciting new activity I have not had the opportunity to have in place yet due for the need of materials. I am really excited to see the students reactions when they realize how fun math can be! Thank you for all of your support!
