I teach a group of first-grade students who live in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky. There is an equal mix of girls and boys. They are fun-loving, bright, energetic, and extremely eager learners. They each absorb information like a sponge and love learning. They attend a rural school that services students from all walks of life.
Their focus should be on learning, rather than what they don't have or what they need to be successful in school.
I am requesting coats for my girls and boys. There are six girls and six boys that could benefit greatly from these. Some come to school in short sleeve shirts when it is so cold. They stand out in the inclement weather to wait for the bus each morning and it gets extremely cold. These coats will keep them warm and snug.
Warmth is a basic need!
Be a part of ensuring my students have what they need to stay warm. These jackets will do just that! No more will I hear how cold it was while waiting for the bus or see students without the necessary covering to stay warm. Your support in making this project a reality is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your generosity.
