My Students

I have a wide range of students ages 17 and 18. I teach US government to seniors. I am a required class and I have 217 seniors. I pride myself in having NO senior fail my class. So at times, I will call home, send multiple emails and in extreme times have other students help me motivate their friends in my class. I am really lucky, my students are kind, smart and are mostly interested in learning about the topic of government. Many of my students are college bound and have already been accepted into college. Their are some of my students that have already experienced extreme hardship and loss because of the pandemic. Then I have other students that have no idea what they are doing to do after high school and are afraid of the future.

My Project

Because I teach government I need to show update, visual aids. These will include videos, news stories, statistics and political cartoons. With an updated laptop, I can create new google slide presentations, have students present videos or visuals and have no lag time.

For example, I was teaching my AP government students about their freedoms under the First Amendment; I showed them a news article about a man in Texas and asked them if everyone deserves protections under the First amendment, even if you are a convicted on death row.
