In California, the 7th grade social studies curriculum takes a tour of world history from the fall of the Roman Empire to the aftermath of the French Revolution. Through texts and experiential activities, we study the amazing cultures, places, and people this span of history has to offer. Another way to explore culture and geography is actually visiting the location of study. As you know, a class field trip to each country is a bit impractical. So, if we can't take a trip to let's say....Japan, seeing Japan through film is a wonderful alternative. Many new resources that support our social studies curriculum are no longer available on VHS, but rather through DVD. Luckily, the price of DVD players continues to decline as technology improves. We would very much appreciate a DVD player for our classroom that we would also share with other classrooms as needed. With a DVD player, oh the places we will go!
