I run a dance program at a low-income,highly diverse charter school. The program is very new and my students and I have had to fundraise for all of the resources that we have in our classroom. My students and I are very highly motivated, yet we lack the resources and technology needed to really take our dance program to the next level.
Recently, we received an iPod touch in our classroom. This technology has been a wonderful resource for streamlining class efficiency. However, I have found that the iPod dock that we use limits rehearsal time. Students are constrained to the one iPod dock on the main stereo system. We run several rehearsals simultaneously, creating a big problem with the increased use in iPods in general.
We need portable iPod speakers to enhance the quality of rehearsals. Students would be able to use their iPods to direct and participate in rehearsals at the same time that other rehearsals are taking place. Ultimately, dancers will be better rehearsed and our dance program will be run more efficiently.
The portable iPod speakers will also afford students who are applying for college as dance majors the time to rehearse before their dance auditions. Students are generally asked to audition a solo and so the portable speakers will enable individual students to practice their audition solos as they prepare for their future academic careers.
With your generous donations, my dancers will be clean and pristine in their dance performances! They will be well-rehearsed and we will be more efficient in our rehearsal schedule. Students will also be prepared for college dance auditions. Thank you, in advance, for contributing to our dance program.
