My Students

All of Wakulla county, where my school is located, is a Title I school district. Our community is less wealthy compared to neighboring communities and our school staff works very hard to ensure that the needs of all of our students are met in spite of that.

My students are hard-working, goofy, inquisitive, and in need of the same opportunities as students in other, wealthier districts.

As a Band program, the vast majority of our equipment is original to the school (30+ years old) or very near to it. It is in desperate need of updating so that our students don't have to play instruments that are severely dented or held together with tape.

My Project

Our percussion equipment is broken and incomplete. We are utilizing our drum set in Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Jazz Band, but there is no ride cymbal or stand, and our current hi-hat has a giant chunk missing from the bottom cymbal!

My students are always willing to "make do," but it would be awesome if we could give them all the equipment they need and help them learn to take care of it properly!

This equipment will be played only by percussion students, but all students in band will benefit by having a complete, operable drum set for our concerts!
