Our school is a small, rural school serving six communities, spanning 256 square miles. My students know the realities of long hours of hard work through parents working in the forest industry, mills, and supporting businesses and trades. They also know the realities of living in rural poverty in an area of continually declining means, population, and sometimes, hope.
My students are a tremendous group of bright, young minds with a desire to learn new ways to stay physically active.
They're thankful for the things they have and the opportunities they're given. And, better yet, they are willing to step up and work for the things they desire. With their heart and drive, I expect great things from each one these kids.
My students want to be able to learn to drum while staying active. Through the drum fit program, we can do just that.
My Project
These materials will help enhance the students physical fitness. They love to move and we are always looking for new ways to get the students active and participating. These materials will be great for all of our students as they are very inclusive. These students love music too so why not combine music and physical fitness.
The drum sets will enhance the environment not only in the classroom but in the entire school.
The drum sets will play many roles in the program for the students. Students who may not have enjoyed physical education but like music will have more of a connection to both programs. The sets would allow for the expanding of the dance unit in class. Everyone is going to want to use these.
