As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.
They like to move, they love to read and love lots of positive attention. Although our school is in a rural community, we have a diverse population of students. Many of our students are fairly new to our country and are just learning to speak English. Over half of our students receive free and reduced lunch. These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as "typical". From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day.
My Project
I would like a safe place to store, organize, charge and protect valuable technology in our classroom. A lockable cart that has charging capability will do just that. Currently, I have classroom iPads stored on the counter.
My students are motivated when using technology for learning.
A cart would help to organize each iPad so all they can all be plugged in and fully charged for the next use. This cart would make iPads more accessible for the entire classroom to use the them. I value my district’s support of technology use in the classroom so I want to keep them safe by locking them each day. Thank you for supporting this project. By supporting this project, you are helping to ensure that technology is accessible when we need it for learning.
