My Students

I work in a Title I, PreK through 5th grade school. My 1st grade students are majority ELL (English Language Learners) and speak another language at home. Nearly all of them qualify for free lunch based on their socioeconomic status, so poverty is an issue.

My students are hard workers and eager learners who deserve the best I can give them.

They thrive with hands-on learning and experience, and I want to provide them with as much of that as possible.

My Project

This project would allow for my students to have access to a charged device at all time. We are 1 to 1 technology at my school, but not 1 to 1 charging stations, which makes if difficult. Currently we share a charging station with another teacher and it is a huge challenge to get 18 chromebooks put away, plugged in, and charging any more frequently than once a week. Charging highly utilized technology only once a week only can mean one thing; dead technology.

As a child, there are few things as disappointing as getting ready to go on your device to gather information or go on an educational game only to find out your device has no charge.

This project would allow my students to be able to have fully accessible charged devices to explore the world, and not have to feel that uncharged device disappointment.

In a world where technology is so pertinent and critical to education, it seems only right that every child is able to be able to utilize a fully charged device on a regular basis.
