Keeping Science Safe

My Students

Imagine moving to a new school where you are now required to learn in English, Spanish and Chinese. The students at my school are held to high standards and are expected to be fluent in all three languages by the time they graduate high school. This can be pretty intimidating. I strive to make a classroom environment where my students will feel safe and supported.

I work in a school where our students learn three languages and all I want to do is to give them the opportunity to have a hands on experience of science.

Many of my students have very limited schooling in their own language and are now thrust into a formal school setting. My students have come from all around the world, from many different and often difficult situations. They have the American Dream, but need the tools to make them successful. Science is universal across the world and as I work with my students I see their eyes light up when we get in the lab.

My Project

In Science class there are experiments. Some of those experiments are pretty laid back, but others require a bit more planning and protection for the safety of the students. Goggles are an excellent resource that is needed in the Science lab.

Goggles protect the eyes of our students while allowing them to experience Science first hand.

That is what I am trying to do is give my students the hands on experience that will spark a love of Science for the rest of their lives.

The beakers will also students as they learn about Science in a safe and fun environment.
