We are a K-12 charter school, focusing on art, science and college prep. The college prep emphasis can actually lead graduates to an AA from our local community college, as well as their high school diploma.
Our students act like one big family, the older students taking care of the younger students, whether or not they happen to be their little siblings.
Our secondary students often serve as teacher's assistants in elementary classrooms, tutoring and helping the younger children to read, write, and compute.
Students have chosen projects to make their school a safer place. They will use the fiberglass blanket, resin, and liquid rubber to construct a shield for classroom doors and windows, preventing school violence. Additional safety projects include piezoelectric cells to light up joggers' jackets at night and sun paper to test distribution of sunscreen to prevent skin cancer for students outside during recess. Another project is using the caliper to measure the thickness needed in football helmets to prevent players from receiving concussions. Finally the wax worms will take the large amount of refuse and break it down into soil for our school's greenhouse.
