My classroom is full of students who are emergent bilingual learners. All of my students are learning English. My emergent bilingual learners are either recent arrivals or brand new to the country. My students bring a wide variety of cultures, languages, and experiences in the classroom in order to create a diverse learning environment.
In addition to learning English, my students are expected to expand their knowledge in order to reach the second grade Common Core curriculum state standards.
My school is a small, inclusive, public school that is part of a large urban district where over 75% receive free or reduced-price lunch.
My Project
My students need individual supply kits during these unprecedented times. My students need pencils, erasers, coloring materials, and pencil pouches to hold all of their supplies. These supplies are used EVERY day by my students and we need enough for every student in the 2nd grade.
While normally we have community supplies, with COVID still being a concern students should not be sharing supplies in order to keep everyone healthy and to keep schools open.
Last year was a wild school year and we want to make sure that students are in school in person every single day. Individual supplies will help make sure this happens!
