Our students come to school every day (with 98.4% attendance) in a diverse, low-income, urban community. Sixty-eight percent are Asian, 14% African-American, 11% Latino, 6% Caucasian, and 1% multiracial.
Our school community supports the whole student academically, physically, and emotionally.
By meeting the needs of our students on many levels, we help them to find success in school and in their community. It is a collective effort to help each of our students become the best people they can be. We try to create a foundation that they will take with them through their education and beyond. In this age of COVID-19, it is especially important for us to care for all of our students in every way possible.
My Project
We are awaiting the final decision if our school will be returning to in-person instruction in September. However, whenever that comes to be, I know that I will need to look out for the best interests of my students. To that end, I would like to have a thermometer, a supply of masks, wipes, and hand sanitizer in my classroom.
My students deserve to have the safest possible space in which to learn during this global pandemic.
And if it must be in our classroom, then I would like to ensure that they have supplies to keep them and our classroom clean and protected. I want to make sure my students know that their health is as important to me as their learning.
