Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom is an integrated class of fifth graders. Children range in age from 9-11 and are from diverse backgrounds, receive free breakfast and lunch and have various skill levels and learning styles, as well as access to technology.
Our students have creative minds that we hope to expand upon by providing them access to Internet based programs.
Our students lack technology in their homes and community and as we are in the digital age, the need becomes more pressing to expose them and provide them opportunities to learn about technology in a safe environment. We want to open the world of science, current events, reading, math and research on a daily basis!
My Project
Time on text, research opportunity, virtual field trips and ability to practice basic skills in an interactive manner are ways to increase our student knowledge base! Our students lack access to meaningful technology.
This generation of learners expects fast paced, instant results and with classroom Chromebooks, they will learn how to navigate the digital world in a safe and effective manner that enhances their learning.
Our students often have limited internet access away from their school experience. In an effort to best equip them for success, we hope to instill "best practice" use of the Internet and encourage them to use the resources to their advantage.
