As I have recounted in our previous projects, our school truly is one of the most diverse schools in the city. Some of our students may live near the school, while others may need to wake up earlier in order to catch a long bus ride to our school site. In fact, a great percentage of our students qualify for free lunch while those who live around the school may come from a more affluent background. Although they may have drastically different socioeconomic backgrounds, their dreams of succeeding in school and ultimately in life are typically similar.
While the students' communities and home environments may differ drastically, it is important to remember that our students are still students of a modern era.
Our classrooms should not look the same as what they were decades ago. And while most of our students may be quite savvy with their smartphones and tablets, there is also a large segment of our student population that may not have access to such electronic tools. But hopefully, with the completion of this project, we may be able to "level the playing field."
My Project
We have been extremely lucky throughout the years to get the printers that we have in our classroom today. However one of the things that we now face in our classroom is the constant need for paper and ink. Our students love to use our computers and printers in the classroom. Even students from other classes would come to our class to print material. We are essentially the printing lab for our school site. However, this means that we are always in need of more color laserjet ink cartridges. As our classroom shifts to more google classroom assignments and projects. Our students will begin to the use the classroom printers, even more, this school year.
