This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have the wonderful opportunity to teach students Visual Arts, ages 6 through 22 years old. It is a school for students who need additional support with behaviors that coincide with some learning disabilities. I love that my students give their best each challenging day.
Patience is the ingredient and motivation in all of my classroom recipes!
Working on social-emotional behaviors can be challenging, but the focus remains the learner and continuing the education that is deserved of them.
My Project
"Keeping Our Marbles" is a project promoting positive learning environments and obtaining positive social-emotional behaviors. We will use the materials, shaving cream, watercolor paper, and acrylic paints to create marbled paper. Once the paper is marbled, the students will use the Cricut machine to print a positive affirmation to transfer onto the marbled paper.
Our student population consists of students that deal with social-emotional behaviors and autism.
The goal of this project is to have students keep these affirmations to develop better self-esteem no matter what society labels them as "not normal". I want my students to know that they are normal, better yet, they have SUPERPOWERS.
