Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My STEM students have a passion for learning math and science. I have a student with Autism in AP Calculus and another with a learning disability whom are eager to learn and absorb my daily lessons. I have one 10th grader in my AP class who listens attentively as I deliver my lesson on limits. My 9th graders in Honors Geometry may skip breakfast in the classroom but their appetite relies on mathematical formulas they discover through the college-prep math curriculum I choose to use. Many of my students participate in the Free Federal Funded School Lunch Program. For some, they are first generation college-bound students. Many are considered low-income.
My Project
The DEEBOT will help make a difference in my students learning by providing a clean, classroom environment for learning to occur. My first-period class contains 34 students and the floor gets quite messy with the foot traffic and debris from the outside. My last class is also huge in that there are about 33 students.
Having the DEEBOT will help clean the floor when the custodian isn't available and will ensure my classroom remains a conducive learning environment.
Our amazing custodian rarely sweeps rooms since funding has been cut in public education. They try their best to clean all rooms and sometimes can only focus on taking out the trash.
The DEEBOT will be used every day after school so when students arrive at school, the classroom is clean.
