At our high poverty/low income school district, my students are faced with several obstacles on a daily basis. To combat these challenges, I am determined to give these students the best learning experiences possible.
My students are creative, smart, and ready to learn!
They crave positive attention and are always on the move. 75% of the students at my school receive free and/or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Many of them have an abnormal family life. Despite these challenges, I feel that ALL students should receive the best opportunities available to them to help them grow as learners.
My Project
A literacy rich environment is a must in any classroom, especially the fourth grade! The books I've chosen are new and appealing to even the most reluctant readers. The carpet is useful for numerous reasons. For one, it creates a great, comfortable area for the students to read in. For another, it showcases the cursive alphabet, which is something that my fourth graders need a lot of practice with.
By donating to our project, you will help to cultivate the love of reading with relevant and up and coming literature in a stimulating environment.
Students will be able to browse through various kinds of literature while relaxing in a print rich environment in which they are comfortable and safe.
