My students from inner-city Harrisburg are part of a public school that includes opportunities for all children. This program gives children from all cultures, areas, and various incomes an opportunity to learn and thrive within the district. My energetic and eager second graders enter the classroom ready to learn, discover, and explore.
At this age, they are excited and love to read books, and learn through discovery and project-based learning.
They beam with joy as they become better readers and thrive in the educational community. They love to learn!
My Project
These seat sacks will continue to enhance my classroom that I strive to create. Each student desk is a place that my students really enjoy-they take ownership, they complete work there, and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in their desk is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. Students will be able to choose books for independent reading, and have all other supplies organized at their own space so that they can maximize their educational learning time!
With these new seat sacks, my students will be able to keep their materials organized and have all materials ready for days of learning in the second grade.
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these organizers will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
