Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our classroom community is made up of a diverse group of kindergarten students who vary in ethnicity, home language, socioeconomic status, and learning style.
We are committed to creating equitable learning environments in which all children can grow academically and socially.
We believe in a rigorous curriculum and aim to support student learning through project-based learning. These projects will help us demonstrate our learning in ways that are meaningful to us. Students are given the opportunity to direct their own learning and are empowered to express their understanding in their unique way.
My Project
Our learning journey this year has been one of perseverance and joy. Students are excited to use what they know about the alphabet and apply it to their reading and writing. I am sourcing new games and tools to support our learning, and look forward to sending these items home for students to use with their families. The more practice students get, the better they will develop foundational skills across content areas.
A strong home-to-school connection is vital in developing a community of lifelong learners.
Families have asked for ways to support their students, and I am happy to provide them with tools and supplies to use at home with their students in various content areas. Students will have greater access to math and literacy games and leveled books. These baggies, envelopes, toner, storage bins, and supplies will help us make this a reality and stay organized.
